I used to work as an IT but got sick of dealing with irate jerks who mess up their computers, so I moved into computer sales management. Now I have to deal with well intentioned customers who have made the mistake of trusting their "IT guy".
I got all sorts of 2nd hand nonsense from customers who have been misled by IT's. These IT's must know that they have the trust of their clients, they use this trust to lie or embellish information, to try to make themselves look smarter than they are. Try all you want douchebag, your still a dumb, fucking idiot.
The mis-information can be as little as overstating the quality of certain products, or understating others. Or it can be as severe as completely lieing about the features their client would need to perform specific tasks on a computer, heres one I love: Customer looks at a printout of some douchebag IT's notes: "My IT guy said I need dedicated graphics memory to get email". Or: "My IT guy said I don't need to spend over $400 to get a computer that will run C.A.D."
The worst part is that these sleazy IT's have built trust to the point that the client won't listen to anyone else, all we can do is hand the computer to the client and know that we are going to see them again soon when they realize their IT doesn't know shit from a hole in the ground.
Please keep in mind that the title says "(some)" IT guys, there are some great IT's out there.
